Tommy Nagra has returned to the BBC to join its religion and ethics department in Manchester.

He left the corporation in 2005 to join Maverick, at the time he was executive producer of the BBC Asian Programmes Unit in Birmingham. He’s widely credited for giving breaks to Sanjeev Bhaskar and Rajesh Mirchandani.His new role in Manchester will see him exec produce Songs of Praise and boost the overall performance of the department.
“Tommy is a champion of the religion genre and brings a fresh expertise to the Religion and Ethics department and to Songs Of Praise,” said Michael Wakelin, head of BBC religion & ethics.

“His track record as a producer and executive producer is hugely impressive and I’m delighted to have secured his services.”
Nagra’s production credentials include exec producing Ghetto Britain for More4 and Jesus Camp for Channel 4, the feature length documentary was nominated for an Oscar. |
